What is Speakonit.com?

How do I start a topic?

Towards the top of the home page you will see a link that says “Start a topic”. Simply click on this to submit what you would like to discuss.  Type in the title that best suits what you’re speaking about, submit a link (optional) relative to your topic, and finally….SPEAK ON IT!

What can I start a topic on?

Start a topic on anything. Share links from across the web and state your opinion, share your view on politics, or anything else you want to speak on.

Once I submit my topic where does it go?

You will find it under the category that you submitted your topic in. The first topic shown in each category is the most recent one submitted. You can also see your topic in your profile under "view my topics".

Which topics are shown on the homepage?

The topics that are shown on the homepage are the ones that have the most user activity in the last 72 hours. This is based off of a point system. Each comment on a topic is counted for 3 points (max 3 points per user), each "I'm with you" and "Fail" vote is counted for 1 point. "Who cares" receives 0 points. The topics with the most points in the last 72 hours will be shown on the homepage.

How can I get my topic on the homepage?

The easiest way to get your topic on the homepage is to submit an eye catching title and something other users will want to discuss.

I do not see my topic in the category that I submitted it in, and it is not in my profile. Where did it go?

If you no longer see your topic after you submitted it, this means that it was deleted by the SpeakOnIt Team. Any topics submitted that look like spam or seem inappropriate will be removed.

Why are some titles blue and some black?

If the title is blue, that means that user submitted a link to back up their opinion. You can click on the blue title and see the link that they submitted.  If the title is black there is no link.

Do I need to submit a link when I start a topic?

No. Submitting a link to back up your topic is optional. If you do submit a link, make sure that you submit the whole URL. If the link is broken it will not be posted.

What are the “I’m with you”, “Fail” and “Who cares” links in each topic?

This is where you can vote on each topic. Simply click on whichever link you think best describes your opinion for that topic. 1 vote per person for each topic.

What are “My points”?

Each user can earn points by submitting topics and receiving comments from other users on their posted topics. 20 points are earned for each approved topic, and 5 points are earned for each comment that is placed by other users on your topics.
