we are in a recession etc... yet we can raise millions and millions for other countries for numerous reasons when all that money could be going to our economy and helping all the poverty, jobless, education, etc people that affects us personally day to day. Im sorry for what happened to HAITI, but it was an earthquake, a natural disaster. Plus if it happened here in the US no one would be raising money or helping us out but our own people and sadly enough i bet we raised more money for HAITI then we ever would for our own country...

I see what you are saying but I disagree a little. The US raised a lot of money for Haiti, but if something happened to the US, I don't think other countries would help us.
However, US does a lot for itself. A lot of money was raised for Katrina and to rebuild New Orleans.
I do think that when it comes to poverty, the jobless or the un-educated, there is a certain part of America that believes those people are there by their own actions or choices and therefor might not have the compassion or willingness to help they do for a "victim" of a natural disaster
