I actually do agree with the principle of that idea, but in reality wealthy Congressmen will just buy private or supplemental insurance. And I also do like the idea of being able to keep your insurace the way it is if you like it. As much as I hate to say it, that should be applied to all Americans. Even scummy congressmen.

Actually it is logical, since the scummy congressmen I'm referring to are the ones trying to STOP the health bill. Just FYI.

But isnt the public option for people who dont have insurance already provided from their employer? Like it or not, the taxpayers already pay for the government to give their congressmen fantastic coverage. As I understand it (please correct me if Im wrong), they wouldnt be allowed to get the public option because of the fact that they get it from the government.

nikkie, you are terribly. by a party line vote democrats defeated an ammendment put forward by republicans that would make congress participate in the public option. you live in some strange bizarro world if you really think you're going to get the same care as your congressman if this passes.

Umm, Im not sure what comment you're reading, but I didnt say that. All I said was that even if we wanted them too, congressmen wouldnt have to get the public option because, with the wording the bill has right now, you arent able to get the public option if your employer provides healthcare for you. Im very much aware of the fact that the Health Bill will provide a very different plan than congress' health plan.

You should probably re read this link "Mr. Baucus, a principal author of the health care bill, noted that his mother was receiving home health care and said he would not do anything to hurt beneficiaries. 'We are reducing overpayments,' Mr. Baucus said. 'We are rooting out fraud. We are getting the waste out. The savings go back in Medicare and extend the solvency of the trust fund.'"

"even if we wanted them to...." wrong again. DEMOCRATS IN THE HOUSE VOTED AGAINST AN AMENDMENT WHICH WOULD HAVE MADE CONGRESS PARTAKE IN THE SO CALLED PUBLIC OPTION.
