Definitely! Our congressmen are caving to peer pressure, when they should be more concerned with being true to their beliefs and the beliefs of the people they are representing! "We ask Catholic voters and their bishops to hold accountable those Catholic lawmakers who voted against the Stupak amendment and Catholic senators who voted to advance the Senate bill with abortion funding to the floor for debate. Catholic advocacy groups will continue to closely monitor how Catholic lawmakers treat the Senate bill and urge the eighteen Senate Democrats to follow the example of House Democrats, led by Cong. Bart Stupak, to put the faith before party loyalty."

There is a big reason for separation of church and state. You know why? Because not everyone that those congressmen are representing is catholic. That means that they have to put their own beliefs aside and do what the people want, since they are our representatives.
You dont think that congressmen should be held responsible for misrepresenting the beliefs of the poeple they represent? If they cant handle it, they shouldnt be prentending to have our best interests in mind!
Hey Nikkie, don't know how old you are (don't care) but your reason is NOT the reason for seperation of church and state. This country was founded as a nation without a king and a church without a pope. Look at your history of what happened when the catholic church was in the ascendacy. They MURDERED MILLIONS of innocent people who didn't believe the catholic religion, and used the secular governments to do it. Go study for a while and see what you get. And stay away from google and wikipedia. Try reading a book published before 1925.
Wasn't there a reason why the U.S. didn't allow Catholics to hold public office? Was it to keep the influence of the Pope out of our policies and our lives? I believe this country was founded so each individual could worship God or not worship as each sees fit without fear of being burned at the stake.
