If you KNEW the truth about christmas, would you still participate in it, even if is anti-christian?? If it can be proven it's origins are older then Jesus is (incarnate here people, pleast think first), would you still be a part of something that God may abhor??

I dont think it really matters what it may have been, its more about what it has become. The true spirit of it is all about giving, as a celebration of the birth of Christ. I really doubt God would think it was wrong. IMO.

At least you had the stuff to answer, unlike the armchair Christians out there. That being said, your answer leads one to think that God condescends to the will of man. That man, in finite intelligence (God is INfinite in wisdom and other things), can force the worship of God. Christmas is a man made institution. We are not told when Jesus was born. If you have that Scripture, I'd like to see it. Christmas is the same as the event that made Cain kill Abel. It was over worship. God rejected Cain because Cain KNEW better but did it anyway. God rejected that (there's a sermon in here). Since God does not change, He can't accept christmas as legitimate. Act 17 does say that He "winks" at our times of ignorance. Now that YOU know...you can read it for yourself. My advice to all is get as far away from christmas as you can. It is anti-christian.

Ok, you lost me. The celebration of christ is anti christion how exactly? Yes, we dont know the actual date, and there's evidence that Christ may have been born in summer or early fall. But does it really matter? Im not talking about the commercialized crap, or the superficial idea of getting the best gifts money can buy. Im talking about the idea of celebrating the birth of our Redeemer and Lord. It seems like something we should already be doing everyday. And if once a year I get the opportinity to celebrate the same thing I do everyday with my family and friends, why would I stop on that one day?

Nikkie (3325) On 12 / 9/ 2009 at 12:53 EST  reply | report abuse

You don't read your Bible, do you? God dictates how we worship HIM. If the day was to kept, the Bible would have clearly delineated it. It does not. Where are we told in the Bible to worship Jesus because He was born??? Id there any record in the Scriptures of ANYONE celebrating ANY birthday? We have record of marriage, funerals etc, but nothing else. The Bible is clear not to add or take away. And with your theology, I could (or anyone or any church group)establish a holy day and God would be required to recognize it and honor it? That's presumptous and arrogant.

I think you comepletely missed my point. I celebrate Christ everyday, so why would I stop on christmas? And what about Luke 1:14 "And you will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth" or 2 Corinthians 4:6 "For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ." Celebrating Jesus Christ is never wrong. I'm not saying we should commercialize it, but why should I stop doing what I do everyday just because you tell me not to one one day of the year? Computers are also not mentioned in the Bible, does that mean I should stay away from them?

Nikkie (3325) On 12 / 10/ 2009 at 12:53 EST  reply | report abuse

Let me see if I can help you out here. What you do as an individual is your business. Corporatively, to call christmas Christian is rediculous. As a group, what we do is different. As for your computer remark...it speaks to your ignorance. Sorry, but that's the truth. There is a difference between tools (that's what your computer is, just like a hammer) and things which are holy. The Bible talks about those who make no difference between the Holy and the profane. Check it out. You need to practice discretion.

righton (75) On 12 / 10/ 2009 at 1:18 EST

I forgot to ask...you keep christmas holy, right? The real question is: do you keep the Commandments. If you are going to tell me they are done away with, be sure to show me the the Bible verses to back that up.

righton (75) On 12 / 10/ 2009 at 1:21 EST

So you're telling me that celebrating Christ by myself is fine, but doing it with my family is bad? I really think that youre so focused on finding out what's anti christian, youve missed the point completely. Pay attention, OK? when I compared this situation to computers I was making a point. There are many things that arent mentioned in the bible, so we need to use the guidelines found there, and our gift of the holy ghost to guide us. The scriprtures I already gave you are proof that the birth of our Lord is something to celebrate, and that God encourages us to let our joy shine through and guide others to him. Thats my point. A computer CAN be a bad thing (profanity, addiction, ect.) or it can be a tool to help us. It's about how we use it. What about gatherings of Christians that are celebrating Christ through worship music? Are you trying to say that I can't call that a christian event? Im not trying to convince you that Christmas is a holy day, Im just saying its not anti christian unless YOU make it a bad thing. God knows our true intentions, always. And my discretion is just fine, but thank you for your concern.

Nikkie (3325) On 12 / 10/ 2009 at 2:21 EST  reply | report abuse

I think you are missing the entire point. Do you think that man, sinful, erring, finite man, can tell God what day to worship Him on? If you "do" christmas that is exactly what you do. And then you expect God to honor that? He didn't do it for Cain, He's not doing it for you. You can't take a pagan holy day, throw some "Christian" themes on it and call it what you want. Do you not see how rediculous and arrogant this is? That is really what you are doing. God judges us by the light we have (Acts 17), but expects us to do the correct thing when we are given the light on it. Go study. As for your computer remark, I explained that already. It's an ignorant excuse used by those who can't give an answer for their faith. And you never anwered my question: are you keeping the Commandments, all 10 of them, as given is Exodus 20? Because that is what God expects from us. Your Jesus said He kept the Commandments. You should think about doing what God asks of you and not man (see Acts 5:29 for your answer).

Oh, I actually missed that question, sorry. Yes, I do keep the commandments and believe in them fully. I dont have any gods before Him, worship false idols, take His name in vain, I keep the sabbath day, I do my very best to honor my parents, I dont kill, commit adultry, steal, lie or covet. Why do you ask?

Nikkie (3325) On 12 / 10/ 2009 at 8:01 EST  reply | report abuse

Which day is the sabbth and how you keep it? I ask because we are judged by His law. And by why we keep it.

righton (75) On 12 / 11/ 2009 at 2:49 EST

Are you trying to catch me in a lie or something? That's kind of what this feels like. To answer you question though, Sunday is the sabbath day. I believe that it should be set aside for worship, rest and the study of scripture. I keep the sabbath day because it makes me a happier and better person. Why does it matter to you so much what others are doing?

Nikkie (3325) On 12 / 11/ 2009 at 12:05 EST  reply | report abuse

As I suspected. You have a surface knowledge of the Scriptures. I would suggest you spend time in study, but you already know it all. I wish I was 26 and knew all you do. I'm done with you.

Show me a Christian church that does not celebrate Christmas? I don't know of anyone of intellect who believes that we forced God to accept this date as Gospel...it is symbolic! I have known a lot of atheists who arm themselves with bible facts that they try to twist into this kind of nonsense! Merry Christ..mas

fatboy (25) On 12 / 11/ 2009 at 11:47 EST  reply | report abuse

Again, you know and understand that "christmas" and everything it stands for is not only pagan, it's a lie, yet you continue to keep it. There are many churches and individuals out there not who don't participate in the whole lie. And that is really what it is. BTW, read your Bible and tell me how that made up, forced worship worked out for Cain. First murder in the Bible, and the unrighteous killed the righteous.

Righton, you're an idiot. You are one of those guys who stands outside Christmas events protesting because you believe it's anti-Christ that i want to punch in the face. Don't worry, I'll save you a seat next to me, in hell :-)

KeepinItReal (0) On 12 / 12/ 2009 at 1:34 EST  reply | report abuse

keepinitreal needs to get real. I don't protest anything by standing outside. Your assumptions confirm your ignorance. I'd love to have you punch me in the face...they did the same thing to Jesus. For those of you who "claim" to be protestants, can you expalin to me why you keep christmas? And just for the record, history shows that almost no one IN COUNTRY kept christmas until the 1850's. You don't know history, or the Bible. Drone on fools.............

righton (75) On 12 / 14/ 2009 at 5:01 EST

"Drone on fools"? Wow, that's really Christian of you. You must know the Bible really well! Jesus said that, right? Right after he says "Love thy neighbor, unless your neighbor is black, gay, or a Democrat". Just so you know, the way you write makes you seem really insecure about your faith. Maybe you should work on that.

Thanks for the tip Dani. Glad you can quote a few lines of Scripture. The Bible also said to get along with all men as frar as possible. Care to explain that in the context of the Scripture you used. Or better yet, go your own way and see how it all works out in the end.

righton (75) On 12 / 16/ 2009 at 5:40 EST

I agree with righton. Christmas is just a way for people to pretend they're christian for one day a year. And how do they celebrate? By shopping and cooking more food in one night than they would usually eat in a week. It's just greed and faux worship.

I think that today Christmas is more of an American consumerist holiday, as sad as it sounds. To each his own though, I'm not religious, yet still celebrate Christmas.
